MID CENTURY MODERN - THE MAKEOVER MADNESS CONTINUES

I WANT TO SHOW YOU PICTURES OF OUR ALMOST FINISHED LIVING ROOM.  BUT FIRST I HAVE TO TELL YOU HOW WE MANAGED TO GET SO FAR SO FAST.
THIS PAST WEEKEND WE ATTENDED OUR FIRST ESTATE SALE.  I KNOW ESTATE SALES ARE NOTHING NEW BUT WE HAD NEVER ATTENDED ONE BEFORE - WE WERE ESTATE SALE VIRGINS IF YOU WILL.  THIS IS THE STORY OF OUR DEFLOWERING.
THE BASE OF THESE GOLD LAMPS ARE ACTUALLY GLASS.
I FIRST LEARNED OF THE ESTATE SALE FROM THE ANTIQUES DEALER WHO PURCHASED OUR SOFA AND WING BACK CHAIR.  WHEN HE INVITED ME TO THE SALE MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUN PERHAPS I'LL SWING BY ON FRIDAY.  I'M HERE TO TELL YA, AN ESTATE SALE IS NOT SOMETHING YOU CASUALLY SWING BY - IT'S SERIOUS BUSINESS!
WIDE VIEW SHOWING THE END TABLES, LAMPS AND COFFEE TABLE.
THE SALE WAS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN AT 10:00 AM AND I SWUNG BY AT ABOUT 10:20.  MISTAKE!!!  THERE WAS ALREADY A LINE OF PEOPLE WAITING TO GET INTO THE SALE AND A POLICE CAR DIRECTING TRAFFIC AND CARS EVERYWHERE.  THAT NIGHT AT DINNER I MENTIONED TO BRAXTON THAT I HAD ATTEMPTED TO ATTEND THE SHOW AND TO MY COMPLETE SURPRISE HE SAID "LETS TRY AGAIN TOMORROW".  HAVE I EVER MENTIONED THAT MY HUSBAND GENERALLY AVOIDS CROWDS AT ALL COST??
WE FOUND THE STRIPPED PILLOWS AT TARGET.
SO, SATURDAY MORNING WE WERE THERE BEFORE THEY OPENED.  WE DID HAVE TO STAND IN LINE FOR A FEW MINUTES BUT ONCE WE WERE INSIDE THE FUN BEGAN.
CLOSE UP OF COFFEE TABLE.
THE SALE WAS IN A SMALL MID CENTURY HOUSE ( I DIDN'T KNOW SUCH HOUSES EXISTED IN THIS CITY) AND THE OWNER WAS CLEARLY A COLLECTOR OF ALL THINGS KITCHY, MID CENTURY, LEOPARD PRINTED, GLITZY AND FUN!!!  THERE WAS STUFF EVERYWHERE, IN FACT IN WAS DIFFICULT TO CONCENTRATE THERE WAS JUST SO MUCH TO SEE.
DON'T YOU LOVE THE LEGS ON THE END TABLE?
WE WERE IN WHAT I THINK WAS HER DRESSING ROOM WHEN BRAXTON SPOTTED THEM.  ON EITHER SIDE OF A LEOPARD PRINTED SOFA (NOT KIDDING) WERE TWO END TABLES ABSOLUTELY COVERED IN LEOPARD PRINTED VASES, ASHTRAYS, ODD AND ENDS...... AND ON THESE TABLES WERE TWO GOLD LAMPS.  BRAXTON ASKED " WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THESE??"  AND REALLY I COULDN'T EVEN IMAGINE WHAT THEY WOULD LOOK LIKE IN OUR HOUSE.  AFTER 20+ YEARS OF MARRIAGE I'VE LEARNED THAT MY HUSBAND HAS A TERRIFIC EYE AND THAT HE'S ALMOST ALWAYS RIGHT.  ABOUT. EVERYTHING.  SO I LET HIM MAKE HE FINAL DECISION.  I'M PRETTY SURE I'LL NEVER REGRET IT.
TOO MANY STIPES?
ONCE BRAXTON MARKED THE TABLES AND LAMPS AS SOLD WE VENTURED INTO THE BASEMENT OF THE HOUSE.  IN THE CORNER - ALL ALONE - AS IF NO ONE HAD EVER LOVED IT - WAS A COFFEE TABLE.  IT HAD A CRACKED LEG AND WAS A LIGHTER COLOR WOOD THAN THE REST OF THE PIECES IN OUR LIVING ROOM, BUT BRAXTON CONVINCED ME THIS COULD BE A PLACE HOLDER. THE TABLE WAS SUCH A BARGAIN I'M HAVING FUN THINKING OF POSSIBILITIES ON HOW TO IMPROVE IT.....PAINT....MIRRORED TILES.....DARKER STAIN....ANY IDEAS?
THE MATCHING GREEN CHAIR.
ALL IN ALL WE HAD A FANTASTIC TIME AT OUR FIRST ESTATE SALE AND LIKE ANY NEWLY DEFLOWERED ARE EAGER TO TRY IT AGAIN.
GLAMOUR SHOT.
I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH A FEW MORE PICTURES OF OUR ALMOST COMPLETE (WE STILL NEED A RUG AND PILLOWS AND SOMETHING FOR THE COFFEE TABLE TOP) LIVING ROOM.
ANOTHER VIEW.

AND ANOTHER.

THE OPPOSITE END OF THE ROOM STILL NEEDS LOTS OF WORK.
BTW:  WE ALSO PURCHASED QUITE A FEW PIECES OF INEXPENSIVE COSTUME JEWELRY WHICH I'LL SHOW YOU ANOTHER TIME.
IF YOU'VE BEEN TO AN ESTATE SALE - WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE?  SHARE - WON'T YOU.
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!
YANCEY
