 Not one to rush things....I decided to wait until the last minute to acknowledge the holiday.  I thought you might like these pictures of the jolly old man himself dressed in his signature fur.  Enjoy.

FUR IN ART

 Been searching around the Internet for examples of fur used in art.  I can't claim to be familiar with all of these, but they all made me smile....I hope they do the same for you.

I really love art deco style and the softness of this is so ....peaceful.

A group of female artists, using recycled fur coats, have created this haunting street art.  God, people are truly amazing!

VINTAGE FUR....YES OR NO

 As I mentioned on Monday, I have a vintage winter coat with a fur collar and cuffs.  I'm not absolutely certain the fur is the real thing, but fairly certain, and I've only worn it once.  It makes me a little uncomfortable.  It's not at all like me to spend real American dollars on something then let in languish in my closet, and it's an absolutely gorgeous coat....but still. 
What would you do?  Vintage fur....yes or no?

I love how well she thought this through.

If there ever is an appropriate time for vintage fur....it's a wedding.  Lovely.

According to furgifts.com all furs should be kept in cold storage during spring and summer months as heat, humidity and moths can all damage fur, and never store your fur in a plastic bag.
One should avoid prolonged periods of sitting while wearing fur and avoid pocketbooks with shoulder straps.
If you get caught in the rain while wearing fur, never use heat to dry your fur.  Shake off excess water and allow to dry naturally.

PILLOWS: MORE FUN IN FUR

 Like a lot of other decorating elements, when it comes to fur a little goes a long way.  Even a single fur pillow on a sofa or chair can add a touch of luxurious warmth and glamour.  Here are a few of my favorites.....

FUR: DESIGN MUSE OF THE WEEK

FUR:  THE THICK COAT OF SOFT HAIR COVERING THE SKIN OF A MAMMAL. 

FAUX:  NOT GENUINE OR REAL; BEING AN IMITATION OF THE GENUINE ARTICLE

 Where I stand on the whole fur issue......I have several faux fur throws which I fold on the ends of beds in the winter months, and I have a vintage winter coat with a real (I think) mink colar which I purchased at an antique store and is possible older than I am. 
 I am also a vegetarian and don't particularly like the idea of animals having to die for my personal pleasures.  However, I love fur!  I love the way it feels, looks and how warm it is....and I am especially fond of quality faux fur.  This season, I have seen some amazing faux fur vests, throws, pillows even pocketbooks.  The fashion industry has really come a long way when it comes to faux fur.
So, let's talk about fur this week....decorating with fur, wearing fur, even the use of fur in the arts.
Oh, and let's just pretend that all the furs I'll be posting this week are in fact faux...and no I'm not really that naive. 

Like most of you, I'll be having a busier week than usual, although not for the same reasons you'll be busy.  Our oldest daughter will be home for  a few days, and we'll be helping her set up an art instillation in Charlottesville.  Braxton and I are so very happy to able to spend some time with our daughter, to see her art again, and generally get caught up with her life.

I would love to know how you feel about fur.  Do you wear fur?  Decorate with fur?  Faux or real?
